WEST CHESTER, PA — Barclay Friends, a Kendal Affiliate, has successfully launched the “Magic Table” tool, marking a significant step in enhancing resident engagement within its Memory Care services. This innovative tool, also known as the Tovertafel, uses captivating light projections on a table to stimulate residents with cognitive challenges, such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. The activities are designed to promote movement, social interaction, and cognitive stimulation, greatly benefiting residents’ well-being.
Maria Santangelo, CEO of Barclay Friends, expressed the excitement surrounding the new technology, stating, “Across the board, employee team members share with me how the Tovertafel is like a little magic box of fun. It’s amazing how quickly it turns a quiet room into a hub of laughter and excitement. The residents love it!”
In addition to introducing the Magic Table, Barclay Friends is expanding its Memory Care services with ongoing construction aimed at creating a secure and structured environment. This expansion will feature state-of-the-art residences tailored to support individuals with memory impairments, incorporating amenities that ensure comfort, safety, and cognitive engagement.
Ellen Gilbert, board chair at Barclay Friends, highlighted the community’s commitment to growth: “With this expansion, we will be able to offer residential care opportunities for twice as many older adults who have dementia as we are able to today. We are focused on creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment to serve the growing demand within the community.”
Barclay Friends remains dedicated to providing comprehensive care, with a team available around the clock to assist with daily activities, offer medical monitoring, and provide emotional support, ensuring an enriched quality of life for all residents.
