WEST CHESTER, PA — AccessLex Institute has announced Shereen Mathews, a first-year law student at Texas Tech University School of Law, as the recipient of its second annual Hannah R. Arterian Memorial Scholarship.
The $50,000 award is available to first-year law students who complete the eight-lesson MAX by AccessLex Financial Foundations course and attend at least two MAX events. The scholarship honors Hannah R. Arterian, a former AccessLex Board member who played a key role in developing the MAX program.
“AccessLex Institute has been a rewarding resource for law students,” said Mathews. “Their MAX program offers courses and tools to manage personal finances and student debt.”
MAX is a free personal finance program provided to nearly 200 American Bar Association-approved nonprofit and state-affiliated law schools. It offers lessons, webinars, workshops, and financial coaching, along with substantial scholarship incentives.
“As a first-generation law student, having accessible resources to make responsible financial decisions was comforting,” Mathews added. “I am grateful for MAX by AccessLex in helping secure a financially stable future.”
