MALVERN, PA — The 37th annual Psych Congress, organized by HMP Global, promises an enriched program for 2024, featuring three specialized preconferences and over 100 sessions led by internationally acclaimed experts. Scheduled for October 29 to November 2 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, the Congress aims to attract more than 3,000 mental health professionals seeking practical training and the latest insights in mental healthcare.
This year, the Congress introduces three specialized preconferences designed to dive deeper into specific areas of mental health care. The Advanced Psychopharmacology Preconference will explore topics such as advancements in adult ADHD and emerging therapies for schizophrenia. In parallel, the Psychedelics Preconference will feature thought leaders like Dan Karlin, MD, MA, and Charles Raison, MD, discussing emerging trends in psychedelic treatments. Additionally, the PA Institute offers essential education for psychiatric physician assistants.
A highlight of the event is the Welcome Session Debate on the role of psychedelics in psychiatry, featuring Charles Raison and special guest Stephen Stahl, MD, PhD. Moderated by Psych Congress Co-Chair Rakesh Jain, this session promises to explore the cutting-edge developments within the field.
The educational program will also cover popular topics such as treatment foundations, clinical challenges, and state-of-the-art care. New treatment options, including muscarinic agonism, will be presented in a Plenary Masterclass Session, offering the latest updates on emerging agents like xanomeline-trospium.
“For more than three decades, Psych Congress has been the place for mental healthcare clinicians to discover what’s new and what’s working, including the latest advancements of the field,” said Rakesh Jain, Co-Chair of the Congress.
Additional sessions will address pressing issues such as suicide prevention, women’s mental health, and gun violence, ensuring the Congress remains at the forefront of comprehensive mental healthcare education. A post-conference MATE Training will provide mandatory education on opioid and substance use disorders for healthcare professionals.
Julie A. Carbray, Co-Chair, emphasized the inclusive nature of the Congress, stating, “We offer education for all members of the mental healthcare community, no matter what stage of their career. No other conference has the same breadth and level of psychopharmacology education combined with state-of-the-art treatment approaches and emerging research findings.”
The 2024 Psych Congress continues its tradition of offering a unique platform for mental health clinicians to engage with the latest research and treatment strategies, fostering enhanced patient care across the industry.
