WEST CHESTER, PA — As the warm weather ushers in the season of blooming flowers, it also signals the beginning of kitten season. This is a time when the Brandywine Valley SPCA sees a significant increase in the number of kittens needing care, especially those without their mothers. To tackle this adorable yet challenging influx, the Brandywine Valley SPCA is calling on the community for support during its Kitten Shower event, set for Saturday and Sunday, April 13 & 14, from 11 am to 2 pm across its West Chester, New Castle, Dover, and Georgetown campuses.
During the Kitten Shower, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about fostering, including crucial skills such as how to bottle feed and care for infant kittens. These sessions are designed to prepare volunteers for the hands-on, round-the-clock care required to nurture these young felines until they’re ready for adoption.
The Brandywine Valley SPCA is appealing to animal lovers and community members to donate supplies vital for the care of these kittens. The wish lists, available on Amazon and Chewy, include items such as the PetAg Complete Nursing Kit, 2-oz bottles for feeding, various pet nursing nipples, KMR Kitten Milk Replacer Powder, microwavable heating cushions, and premium potty pads. For the kittens themselves, donations of unscented clumping clay cat litter, disposable cat litter boxes, and grain-free canned cat food are greatly appreciated.
Becoming a bottle-baby foster is a rewarding experience that makes a tremendous difference in the lives of these vulnerable kittens. The Kitten Shower aims not only to gather much-needed supplies but also to inspire more individuals to join the foster network. With the community’s support, the Brandywine Valley SPCA can continue its lifesaving work, ensuring every kitten has the chance to grow strong and find their forever home.
If you love animals and want to make a direct impact on the lives of kittens in need, consider attending the Kitten Shower. It’s an opportunity to learn, contribute, and maybe even start your journey as a foster caregiver. Together, we can help the Brandywine Valley SPCA provide the best possible start for these little ones.
