Boosting Public Safety: $2.3 Million in Grants Transform 74th District Emergency Services!

HARRISBURG, PAState Representative Dan Williams, D-Chester, has successfully secured over $2.3 million in Local Share Account grants aimed at significantly upgrading public safety facilities and equipment within Pennsylvania’s 74th district. These funds are part of a broader commitment to bolster the capabilities of local fire, police, and emergency medical services, ensuring enhanced community safety and rapid response in emergencies.

One of the key allocations includes $50,000 for the Valley Township Municipal Complex, which will be used to install over 1,000 linear feet of high-security fencing, thereby fortifying the facility against potential threats. The South Coatesville Borough Police Department will benefit from $57,345 to modernize its operations with new computers, a printer, and a license plate reader, facilitating more efficient law enforcement activities such as ticketing speeding vehicles without requiring direct pursuit by officers.

The emergency medical services in Modena are set to receive a substantial boost with $93,863 earmarked for purchasing critical medical and safety equipment, including ballistic vests and power gurneys. An additional $451,585 will allow Modena Borough to acquire a new ambulance, enhancing its capacity to respond to medical emergencies.

In Elverson Honey Brook EMS, $304,844 has been allocated for the procurement of a new ambulance, replacing an older vehicle and ensuring reliable emergency medical transport. Honey Brook Borough is also slated to receive $75,000 for 18 advanced radios equipped with GPS and security features, improving communication across emergency response teams.

Further strengthening infrastructure resilience, Honey Brook Borough will utilize $122,885 to install generators in key municipal buildings, including the borough hall and police department, to maintain operations during power outages.

Coatesville City is set to make significant advancements in its firefighting capabilities with a $675,000 grant for the acquisition of a Seagrave Pumper Fire Engine and a Seagrave Tractor-Drawn Aerial Apparatus Ladder Truck, both essential for effective firefighting operations.

The Chester County Solid Waste Authority has been awarded $350,000 to construct a permanent waste collection facility that will operate year-round, enhancing environmental management in the area. Additionally, Caln Township will use $126,027 to purchase two responder trucks, further bolstering its emergency response fleet.

The funding, derived from the Statewide Local Share Account through the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, underscores a strategic investment in public safety that enhances the operational readiness of emergency services across the district. These grants reflect a concerted effort to ensure that residents of the 74th district benefit from improved safety measures and infrastructure, fostering a secure and resilient community environment.
