BRYN MAWR, PA — Aqua Pennsylvania has announced plans to replace 5,000 feet of aging water mains in Chester County, focusing on West Goshen Township and West Chester Borough. The project is part of Aqua’s ongoing infrastructure improvement efforts designed to enhance water service reliability for local residents and businesses.
The upgrades include replacing outdated cast iron pipes, some over a century old, with modern ductile iron mains made from nearly 90% recycled materials. These improvements aim to reduce service interruptions, prevent leaks, and ensure consistent water flow for decades to come.
Key Areas of Improvement
Residents of West Goshen Township will benefit from the replacement of 4,550 feet of water mains along several streets, including Mallard Road, Somerset Place, and Chestnut Alley. Meanwhile, 450 feet of water mains will be upgraded in West Chester Borough, specifically on South High Street between East Nields and Sharpless Streets.
New 2-inch copper and 6-inch, 8-inch, and 16-inch ductile iron mains will be installed to meet the area’s water usage demands. These materials are more durable and environmentally friendly, further reflecting Aqua’s commitment to sustainable practices.
Long-Term Benefits
This infrastructure upgrade is expected to significantly enhance the reliability of water service in both communities by reducing maintenance-related disruptions and minimizing environmental risks. The improvements are part of Aqua Pennsylvania’s broader initiative to replace aging water and wastewater systems across the state, ensuring that local families and businesses have access to safe and dependable water services.
By investing in these critical infrastructure updates, Aqua Pennsylvania continues to prioritize the long-term needs of the communities it serves, while promoting sustainability and efficiency in water delivery systems.
