PHILADELPHIA, PA — Manayunk Development Corporation is set to honor the region’s pets through a month-long celebration for Manayunk Pet Month and National Dog Month. Each Thursday in August, the community will host Stroll the Street, featuring pet-themed activities starting at 5:00 PM. The 9th annual Stroll the Street program will include a doggie fashion show, pet bandana making, canine caricatures, a pup cup buffet, interactive installations, musical performances, and special food and drink offers from local restaurants and bars.

The highlight of the month is Manayunk’s Dog Day of Summer celebration on Saturday, August 17, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This event will feature a variety of pet-friendly vendors, adoptions, treats, and activities along Main Street Manayunk. Participation is free, with food, drink, and shopping available on a pay-as-you-go basis. Both Stroll the Street and Dog Day of Summer events are community-oriented and do not involve street closures.

Dog Day of Summer: Activities and Highlights

On Saturday, August 17, dogs and their owners can enjoy a range of activities from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Puppy Park & Agility Course on Cotton Street will challenge dogs with cones, hurdles, and seesaws. Dan’s Toonz Caricatures will be available to sketch portraits of dogs and their owners. At the Peanut Butter Puppy Paint Station, dogs can create their own pet-friendly art. A Dog Day Photo Booth at Canal View Park (4418 Main Street) will capture memories, and treats and pup cups will be plentiful.

Caitlin Marsilii, Events Coordinator for Manayunk Development Corporation, expressed her excitement: “We take pride in the fact that Manayunk has such a growing and active canine community, and each August, we like to celebrate that fact. This event not only brings a day full of fun for dogs and dog parents, but it shines light on local shelters, pet-centric organizations, and small businesses.”
