It’s that time of year again! Christmas is just around the corner, and people are getting ready to celebrate. But what is the true meaning of Christmas? Is it a “proper” special occasion, or is it too commercialized? A new YouGov International Omnibus survey in 12 countries shows that a large majority of people in each country still tend to think that Christmas is celebrated for the right reasons.
When it comes to celebrating Christmas, Americans tend to view it as a “proper” special occasion. The survey shows that 66% of respondents feel this way. While 24% claim that commercial entities play a role in how much Christmas is celebrated, the majority of those polled still feel that it is ultimately because it is a significant event. This could be for religious reasons, or simply because it is a time of year when family and friends come together. Either way, Christmas remains an important part of American culture.
It’s clear that Christmas won’t be going away anytime soon, and there is no doubt that it will remain a time when people come together to celebrate. No matter what your beliefs are, Christmas has something to offer everyone.
