CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) has introduced an innovative mobile wellness solution, the Fit Truk, designed to improve community health and expand access to vital services. This state-of-the-art vehicle delivers fitness opportunities and healthcare services directly to underserved areas, positioning YGBW as a leader in merging wellness and medical care on the go.

The Fit Truk, which can accommodate up to 40 people for fitness activities, also serves as a mobile health hub with office space for healthcare providers to perform screenings, administer vaccines, and offer other essential services. The initiative opens new collaboration opportunities between YGBW and healthcare providers, enabling a broader reach and healthier outcomes for Chester County residents.

“With the Fit Truk, we have the opportunity to deliver fitness directly into our community – but also to provide vital health screenings performed by medical providers,” said Bertram L. Lawson II, YGBW President and CEO. “Together, we can fast-track the delivery of our mission to connect our neighbors to vital health services.”

The ribbon-cutting event, held at West Chester University’s Hollinger Field House, featured community leaders, healthcare professionals, and local officials, with speakers emphasizing the Fit Truk’s potential to address both health equity and healthcare accessibility.

“Together, we can promote preventative health, reduce hospital readmission rates and foster a culture of wellness that extends beyond traditional medical settings,” explained Veronica Lopez, YGBW’s Vice President of Health Strategies.

The Fit Truk is part of YGBW’s broader effort to combat chronic disease and expand health services in zip codes where access is limited. Heather Worthy Wilson, YGBW’s Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, added, “Delivering fitness and healthcare directly into our community exemplifies our commitment to ensuring all residents have the tools and resources to lead healthier lives.”

The mobile initiative complements YGBW’s Medical Fitness Facility Certification, a distinction that further positions the organization as a trusted healthcare partner in the region. With offerings like evidence-based health programs and strategic innovations like Welld Health’s two-way data exchange system, YGBW is scaling its impact and paving the way for stronger collaborations within the healthcare continuum.

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine’s Fit Truk represents a bold step in redefining health and wellness access, bringing vital resources closer to the people who need them most.
