WEST CHESTER, PA — As the days grow longer and the anticipation of summer break builds, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) is set to kick off the season with a bang! Families across Chester County are invited to dive into a day of fun, fitness, and family bonding at the annual Healthy Kids Day. This nationwide YMCA celebration will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 20, at seven convenient locations throughout the county. Best of all? It’s completely free and open to the public.
Healthy Kids Day is more than just an event; it’s a springboard into a summer filled with active play, learning, and exploration. Attendees can look forward to a plethora of activities designed to engage and excite children of all ages. From corn hole and field games to inflatable obstacle courses and moon bounces, there’s something for every young adventurer. Wellness demos will offer families a sneak peek into the world of health and fitness, inspiring everyone to embrace a more active lifestyle.
As the countdown to summer begins, the YMCA is on a mission to ensure that kids stay engaged, healthy, and happy during their break. “Summer is a vibrant season at the Y, brimming with the energy and excitement of Summer Camp,” says Bridgette Barbera-Byrne, Senior Association Director of Camp and Family Programs. Healthy Kids Day serves as a vibrant showcase, giving families a taste of the unforgettable experiences that await in the YMCA’s summer programs.
The YMCA of Greater Brandywine’s commitment to fostering healthy habits in the community shines through its meticulously planned Summer Camp activities. “Planning for Summer Camp is a year-round endeavor for our dedicated staff,” Barbera-Byrne adds. “Seeing our campers thrive and enjoy a healthy summer is the ultimate reward for our efforts.”
This year, YGBW expands its camp offerings to cater to a broader range of interests and developmental needs. New teen camps, including the adventurous Teen Trek, join traditional day camps and a diverse array of sports and specialty camps. Whether your child dreams of mastering gymnastics, exploring STEM, or unleashing their creativity through art and theater, YGBW camps promise a summer of growth and discovery.
Inclusivity is at the heart of YGBW’s mission, exemplified by Camp Bumblebee, which welcomes children with disabilities and developmental delays. Thanks to the generosity of donors and sponsors, this special camp maintains a high staff-to-camper ratio without additional cost to families, ensuring that every child can experience the joy of summer camp.
Healthy Kids Day is proudly sponsored by S&T Bank, marking their third year supporting this vital community initiative. Alongside over 100 Community Partners, S&T Bank’s commitment helps extend YGBW’s mission, promoting wellness and healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Don’t let your family miss out on this exciting kickoff to summer! Join the YMCA of Greater Brandywine on April 20 for a day filled with fun, laughter, and the promise of a memorable summer ahead. It’s time to make this summer the best one yet, starting with Healthy Kids Day!
