PHILADELPHIA, PA — For its ninth year running, Stroll the Street is all set to make a grand return to Main Street Manayunk. A project of the Manayunk Development Corporation, Stroll the Street has quickly grown into a beloved hyperlocal event that showcases the very best of Manayunk’s vibrant community of local businesses, vendors, artisans, and performers.
From June 6th to August 29th, every Thursday evening gets a dash of excitement when Main Street Manayunk springs to life with monthly themes, weekly activations, live music, local artists, outdoor vendors, happy hour specials, and shopping deals. This year, they are ready to lean further into the neighborhood’s thriving creative spirit, with themes for June, July, and August centered around Art, Music, and Pets respectively.
This year’s Stroll the Street is gearing up to be more thrilling than ever, featuring the MNYK Artbox, an initiative that gained tremendous popularity after its launch in 2023. The mini-stage stationed on Cotton Street will host art demos, interactive installations, music performances, a dog fashion show, and countless other attractions.
As in previous editions, 15+ artisan vendors will light up the night every week, offering a range of unique products, including jewelry, art, vintage clothing, gourmet hot sauce, candles, pet treats, and more. Music fans can look forward to live performances from numerous musicians up and down Main Street. And, of course, don’t forget to check out the Stroll the Street exclusive food, drink, and shopping specials on Manayunk.com each week.
Along with the artisan vendors and live music, various local businesses are also going all out with special deals and extended hours. From City of Paws Pet Care to Creative Collective and from Minor Details to Winnie’s Manayunk, everyone is getting in on the action to brighten up your Thursdays.
While enjoying Stroll the Street, visitors can also explore Manayunk’s alleyways adorned with vibrant lights and art installations. Manayunk is also home to more than 30 murals, each telling a unique story and offering a perfect photo-op.
Stroll the Street 2024 kicks off Arts Month in June with Plein on Main on June 6th. In collaboration with Orbit Art Gallery, this plein air competition invites artists to paint scenes of historic Main Street Manayunk, competing for a grand prize of $1000.
Music Month follows in July with a range of exciting activities, including an open drum circle, a community open mic night, and a performance by the Gardyn Jazz Orchestra.
And in August, Stroll the Street turns into a pet paradise, with pet-specific vendors and a puppy agility course running all month long. The line-up includes a unique paint night for pets, a doggie fashion show with award-winning designer Roberto Negrin, a pet bandana making event, and a complimentary Pup Cup Buffet to end the summer on a sweet note.
From the creativity of arts month to the rhythm of music month to the adorable dogs of pet month, this year’s Stroll the Street is guaranteed to leave an indelible mark on your summer. The event is open to the public, and is free of charge, with food and drink available on a pay-as-you-go basis. However, the Stroll the Street won’t go ahead on July 4th and is not a rain or shine event. For updates regarding weather and schedule changes, visit the Manayunk website.
