Salt Performing Arts Presents Little Shop of Horrors, June 4 – 20, 2021

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — Suddenly it’s time for another show: SALT Performing Arts presents Little Shop of Horrors, June 4 – 20, 2021.

Feed the need for musical hilarity with this delicious sci-fi smash about a man-eating plant. One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows, Little Shop Of Horrors is a charmingly tongue-in-cheek comedy that has been produced worldwide to incredible success. SALT’s unique version is sure to knock your socks off!

Based on the 1960’s B-movie by Roger Corman, The Little Shop of Horrors was adapted to the stage by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman winning several awards, including the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, and it’s now the third-longest running and highest-grossing musical in off-Broadway history.

Featuring innocent charm blended with a wicked sense of humor, Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of the meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn as he stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it…BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out-of-this-world origins and intent towards global domination.

“Little Shop is an ageless story of basic human nature: unrequited love and a desire to be, do, and have more,” expresses Lauren McComas, President and Artistic Director of SALT Performing Arts. “It has been compared to a Greek tragedy, a psychological fable, as well as a statement about the idealism of the American Dream. Our casting recognizes the marginalized in our society and how this story can represent any number of people groups on the fringe, desperate to get out of their current situation and make it Uptown.”
