SALT Performing Arts and Acting Antics Announce New Partnership

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — SALT Performing Arts is thrilled to announce its new partnership with Acting Antics, a non-profit theater program that offers unique opportunities for children, teens, and adults who have difficulty with social skills or a diagnosis on the autism spectrum.

Starting in January of 2019, they will be offering a Musical Theatre Master Class at SALT on Saturdays, culminating in live performances. The program will run for 13 weeks and end with a weekend of performances in March – the Acting Antics ENCORE – which includes a fundraising gala. Registrations are now open.

Acting Antics believes in using the creative arts to encourage social skills and communication growth. The best way to learn is by having fun! Acting Antics capitalizes on the strengths and abilities of the participants to observe and copy gestures, tones of voice, and mannerisms.

The built-in structures that theater and music provide can help the development of social understanding and flexible thinking through the opportunity to act and react in everyday situations.

With these techniques, Acting Antics supports their actors in developing greater maturity, understanding of what others may be thinking or feeling, and communicating their own thoughts and feelings more effectively.
