CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — SALT Performing Arts is excited to present its first live theatre musical show since March, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, October 10 – 18 — an outdoor performance perfect for pandemic times with a cast of just two incredibly talented performers and a live pit!
Join us for The Last Five Years, possibly the most suitable socially-distanced adaptation of any musical, complete with live pit orchestra, from the spacious hillside behind SALT Chester Springs. Directed by the accomplished Seth Reich, The Last Five Years is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their 20’s who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. The show’s unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically. SALT’s two-person cast consists of the fabulous SALT all star KIM WHITEHILL (previously in Godspell, Beauty and the Beast) as Cathy and the amazing SALT newcomer MARCUS BARAINYAK as Jamie. Bring lawn chairs, pack a picnic and/or takeout from your favorite local establishment, and enjoy a fabulous musical performed live on the beautiful grounds of SALT in Chester Springs.
“As luck would have it, The Last Five Years was already one of our 2020 season shows. Located in the historic Yellow Springs section of Chester Springs, we are so grateful to also have a beautiful outdoor setting with adequate performance space to fit our two wonderful actors and our live orchestra pit,” comments Lauren McComas, President and Artistic Director of SALT Performing Arts. “Ideally we would have loved to be in the theatre, but with so much of our interactions being virtual, it is very refreshing to be outside on a lovely Fall day. Our two actors have the incredible range and stamina needed for this ingenious and poignant show. A must see for sure!”
