PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The iconic Colonial Theatre, a cherished landmark in Chester County, will host a pivotal fundraiser, “Floydian Trip: Brick by Brick to Benefit the 1903 Theatre,” on Saturday, February 15, at 8 p.m. Proceeds from the event will support a critical restoration project for its historic 1903 Theatre, ensuring the venue remains a cultural hub for future generations.
Featuring a live performance by the Pink Floyd tribute band Floydian Trip, the fundraiser’s proceeds will directly fund the repointing of the theatre’s west brick wall, an essential preservation effort. The restoration will allow the Colonial to continue offering diverse programming, including concerts, movie screenings, and live events.
Built in 1902 and opened in 1903, the Colonial Theatre is the last surviving venue of its kind in Phoenixville and remains one of the few theatres nationwide equipped for both 35mm and 2K digital projection. Beyond its architectural appeal, the theatre has earned a place in cinematic history, having appeared in the 1958 sci-fi classic The Blob. It originally hosted vaudeville acts, musicals, and performances by stars such as Harry Houdini and Mary Pickford, highlighting its legacy as a center for entertainment.
The venue, expanded in 2017 to include three theatres across two connected historic buildings, preserves its vintage charm while offering modern cinematic experiences to patrons. The 1903 Theatre, with its 658-seat capacity, continues to captivate visitors with its timeless ambiance and unparalleled history.
The headlining band, Floydian Trip, comprises seven musicians dedicated to recreating the iconic performances of Pink Floyd. Known for their attention to detail, the group promises an authentic live experience rooted in the sounds and spirit of the legendary rock band.
Tickets for the fundraiser start at $50, with all proceeds going toward the restoration initiative. The event represents a unique opportunity to celebrate music and history while contributing to the preservation of one of Phoenixville’s most treasured landmarks. Click here to purchase your tickets.
