IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY, PA — In an event that promises to captivate audiences of all ages, the Immaculata Symphony is set to hold its annual children’s concert, “Carnival of the Animals,” on Sunday, February 25. The concert will take place at 3 p.m. in Alumnae Hall on the scenic campus of Immaculata University.

The Immaculata Symphony, a university-community organization with a rich tradition dating back to the university’s founding in 1920, has long been known for its unique and interactive musical experiences. These performances not only entertain but also serve as an educational tool, sparking curiosity and fostering a love for music.

This year’s concert promises to be a delightful journey into the animal kingdom, as the symphony performs Saint-Saëns’ enchanting “Carnival of the Animals.” This classical masterpiece, with its playful movements evoking the characteristics of different animals, is sure to delight both young and older listeners alike.

Alongside “Carnival of the Animals,” the program includes several other animal-themed works. Audiences can look forward to the serene melodies of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Sheep May Safely Graze,” as well as the whimsical tunes of Leroy Anderson’s “The Waltzing Cat” and the familiar strains of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.”

Joseph Gehring, Chair of the Immaculata University Music Department and Director of Ensembles, will conduct the concert. Gehring, who was appointed Music Director of the Immaculata Symphony in 2011, brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for music to the podium. In addition to his role at Immaculata, he actively conducts the West Chester Band and Chesco Pops Orchestra and is a frequent guest conductor of various honor/festival bands and orchestras throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware.
