PHILADELPHIA, PA — Chris’ Jazz Café, Philadelphia’s longest continuously operating jazz club, is all set to spread holiday cheer with a lineup of stellar performances and charitable events throughout December.
The month-long celebration kicks off with a Christmas Toy Drive for Toddlers. The drive peaks on Saturday, December 9, with a sensational holiday performance by vocalist Denise King and her quintet. Denise, a beloved songstress from Philadelphia, will be performing holiday and jazz standards, accompanied by an ensemble of accomplished musicians including Duane Eubanks on trumpet, Anthony Wonsey on piano, Abraham Burton on saxophone, Ocie Davis on drums, and Kenny Davis on bass. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 & 9:30 p.m., with general admission priced at $30 per person. In the spirit of giving, guests who bring an unwrapped toy to the Friday and Saturday late-night jam sessions at 11 p.m., now through December 9, will enjoy free admission.
Pianist Joe Block’s Holiday Extravaganza is another highlight, featuring vocalists Stella Katherine Cole and Ekep Nkwelle on Friday and Saturday, December 15 & 16. While the 7:30 p.m. shows on both nights are sold out, tickets for the 9:30 p.m. shows are still available, with general admission priced at $40 per person. “I am so thrilled to come back home and present this brand new show,” said Block.
The festivities continue right up to New Year’s Eve, with crowd favorites Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Nine returning to ring in 2024 with a rousing dose of foot-stomping swing that promises to get the audience on their feet. The ensemble will perform at 7, 9, and 11 p.m., with general admission priced at $40 per person.
Dinner & Show packages, VIP, and General Admission tickets are now on sale for all shows. All tickets offer premium seating. Streaming is also available on Chris’ YouTube channel: @ChrisJazzCafePhilly.
