WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County Choral Society of West Chester, PA is marking its 50th season of bringing excellent and diverse SATB choral music to the area and beyond. Artistic Director Gary P. Garletts and Associate Director Patricia Mancuso lead an 80-voice auditioned choir in presenting live concerts and virtual choir recordings, accompanied by pianist Ann Marie Ellis.
CCCS will present “A 50th Anniversary Concert” on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA. The concert will feature Mozart’s Missa Brevis in D, as well as a celebration of song including shorter works by William Byrd, Elaine Hagenberg, Morten Lauridsen, Gwyneth Walker, Bob Chilcott, Rosephanye Powell, Carly Simon, and Christopher Tin. The choir will be accompanied by piano, an 8-piece string ensemble, and three percussion players. A wine and cheese reception will follow, with displays of choir history from their founding as the Exton Choral in 1973.
In the fall, two concerts took place. The Chamber Ensemble presented “Songs of Devotion” on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Church of the Loving Shepherd in West Chester. The full chorus presented “Carols and Lullabies” on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 7:30 PM at Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA.
