This year’s event, taking place on Saturday, October 5th, marks a significant occasion in honor of National Coming Out Day. The celebration kicks off with a special preview on Friday, October 4th, featuring Out and About Drag Bingo at Winnie’s, beginning at 7:00 PM. Hosted by the illustrious Philly Drag Mafia, the evening promises an abundance of laughter, live music, and fantastic prizes, setting the stage for an unforgettable weekend.
Early risers on Saturday can join The Wall Cycling’s Pop Icon Drag Spin for Charity at 9:00 AM, led by the captivating VinChelle. This dynamic class offers participants an invigorating start to their day, with proceeds benefiting the Trevor Project.
From 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Main Street will transform into a bustling hub of activity. Highlights include an LGBTQ artisan market showcasing over fifteen talented artists, a Drag Storytime hosted by Philly Drag Mafia at Launchpad Fitness, and a lively performance by the Philadelphia Freedom Band marching down Main Street from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Known for their energetic renditions of hits from artists like Elton John and Lady Gaga, the band is a community charity organization dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community through music.
As the afternoon unfolds, Gay Street will host an electrifying drag show at 2:00 PM, featuring stunning performances by Philly Drag Mafia. Known for their award-winning shows, the group promises to dazzle with their vibrant costumes and charismatic stage presence.
The evening culminates with a double feature of the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” presented by Philly’s own TNP Live Shadowcast. Taking place at the Venice Island Performing Arts Center, shows are scheduled for 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Audience participation is highly encouraged, adding to the immersive experience that has made “Rocky Horror” a beloved tradition.
