The East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District has announced the return of the iconic “Flavors on the Avenue,” set to transform South Philadelphia into a vibrant hub of culinary excellence and community celebration. Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, and join in the festivities that continue to draw crowds from across the region for an unforgettable day of food, fun, and festivity.
Now in its 18th year, “Flavors on the Avenue” stands as one of the city’s most anticipated food festivals, showcasing an impressive lineup of over two dozen top-tier Philadelphia restaurants, cafes, and bars. Participants including Barcelona Wine Bar, Bing Bing Dim Sum, and Le Virtu, among others, will spill onto five bustling blocks of East Passyunk, from Broad to Dickinson streets, offering an array of mouthwatering dishes that promise to satisfy every taste bud.
But the excitement doesn’t stop at the culinary delights. Over 100 vendors, including more than 80 artists and makers curated by Nice Things Handmade, will line the avenue, creating a vibrant marketplace of creativity and craftsmanship. The festival’s family-friendly atmosphere will be bolstered by a variety of activities, including balloons, a bounce house, arts and crafts, and games, ensuring enjoyment for attendees of all ages.
Michelle Gillen-Doobrajh, EPABID Board President and owner of Tildie’s Toy Box and Tiny Tildie’s, reflects on the festival’s growth: “Flavors on the Avenue started back in 2007 and has grown to become one of the most popular outdoor food festivals in Philadelphia. It’s our invitation to share our love of food and to celebrate the chefs and restaurants that make East Passyunk a top food destination in America.”
As “America’s Top 10 Foodie Street,” East Passyunk Avenue will offer everything from street food favorites and vegan delights to sweet and savory options and South Philly classics. With food and drink available on a pay-as-you-go basis, guests can indulge in seasonal refreshments, including cocktails, beer, and wine, served by select restaurants.
