PHILADELPHIA, PA — On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Circadium School of Contemporary Circus will celebrate the holiday season with two distinct shows in Philadelphia. Known as America’s only full-time accredited circus school, Circadium is bringing dazzling performances for both families and adults to experience the magic of modern circus arts.
Family Holiday Show
The day kicks off at 3 p.m. with the Family Holiday Show, a joyful celebration featuring acrobatics, aerial acts, juggling, and more—perfect for audiences of all ages. Twenty young circus artists, including members of the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts Youth Troupe, will perform routines with unicycles, rolling globes, partner acrobatics, and synchronized stunts. The show blends technical skill with festive holiday themes, promising an enchanting afternoon for families.
Tickets for the Family Holiday Show are $10 for children under 18 and $20 for adults.
Adult Holiday Cabaret
Later at 8 p.m., the stage transforms for the Adult Holiday Cabaret, a bold, 18+ circus production filled with awe-inspiring acrobatics, humor, and sultry burlesque elements. This provocative performance fuses physical skill with storytelling, comedy, and character work, offering a daring and whimsical spin on traditional holiday celebrations. Perfect for an adventurous night out or a unique “holidate,” this cabaret promises a memorable evening.
Tickets for the Adult Holiday Cabaret are $20 per person.
The Creative Process
Circadium’s holiday shows represent months of preparation and creativity. The Family Holiday Show emerged from students’ weekly theater workshops, where they developed original concepts blending circus disciplines with holiday themes. “It’s the perfect time of year for us to share the magic of what we do here,” said Shana Kennedy, Circadium’s Executive Director. She emphasized that the performances are as entertaining as they are thought-provoking.
The Adult Holiday Cabaret draws inspiration from months of collaboration with John Jarboe of the Bearded Ladies Cabaret. Through workshops and unique experiences, including visits to art exhibits and festival performances, students honed skills in character development, audience engagement, and provocative storytelling to craft this boundary-pushing spectacle.
Faculty member Elliott Gittelsohn highlighted how circus arts amplify the season’s sense of wonder. “Circus adds an extra layer of magic, making the holidays feel even more extraordinary and festive,” he said.
Ticket Information
Both performances will take place at Circadium, located at 6452 Greene Street, Philadelphia, PA. Tickets can be purchased online, with prices starting at $10 for the Family Holiday Show and $20 for the Adult Holiday Cabaret.
Whether you’re looking for family-friendly fun or a daring night out, Circadium’s holiday shows promise to deliver unique and unforgettable experiences this holiday season.
