WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County is set to celebrate the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day a bit early this year with the much-anticipated Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Party. Scheduled for Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, the festivities will take place at the Knights of Columbus Social Club, located at 110 West Market Street, West Chester. Admission is free, though donations will be graciously accepted, with all proceeds benefiting the Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
The event will be headlined by The O’Shenanigans Irish Band, a group with a compelling history of philanthropy. Founded in 2015 by Father Charles O’Hara, The O’Shenanigans have dedicated their musical talents to raising awareness and funds for the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. Father O’Hara, the eldest of twelve children, has a storied background in both education and sports. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he played football, Father O’Hara also attended St. Charles Seminary and was ordained for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. His career has included teaching theology and coaching various sports at multiple high schools, including Bishop McDevitt and Bishop Shanahan.
The O’Shenanigans have never accepted payment for their performances, choosing instead to donate their time and talent to benefit the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. This will mark their fourth appearance at a Chester County AOH Gathering, with past events successfully raising $1,000 each for the cause. The community’s continued support will be vital in surpassing previous fundraising goals. Donations are tax-deductible, and checks should be made out to “The Society of St. Vincent DePaul.”
Adding to the day’s entertainment, the Do’Carde School of Irish Dancers will also perform, bringing their vibrant and traditional dance routines to the celebration.
This event promises to be a memorable occasion, blending music, dance, and community spirit, all while supporting a noble cause. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to join in the festivities and share the event on social media to ensure its success.
Mark your calendars and prepare to enjoy an afternoon of Irish culture and camaraderie, all in support of a worthy cause.
