PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia’s own Inis Nua Theatre Company is preparing to sweep audiences off their feet with “Once Upon a Bridge.” This gripping play will run from March 6 to March 24, 2023, in celebration of the theatre company’s 20th anniversary season. Penned by rising Irish playwright Sonya Kelly, the drama—a true-life inspiration—will leave spectators at the edge of their seats.
“On the Bridge” tells the harrowing tale of a jogger who, without stopping or looking back, pushes a woman into the path of an oncoming London bus. The audience will be submerged in the intense drama, where three strangers’ lives intersect in a frenzy of tension, unveiling the shocking aftermath of the event from different perspectives.
The powerful play is steered by the dynamic directorial talent of Philadelphia’s favorite Brett Ashley Robinson, alongside a captivating cast. The talented team includes the admired local actor David Pica, Robinson’s real-life spouse, making this project a unique on-stage and off-stage collaboration.
Inis Nua Theatre has arranged an exciting line-up of special events to accompany the production. Every Friday and Saturday, theatre-goers can enjoy wine nights featuring engaging conversations with the show’s creative artists. Sundays will see a post-show exploration of the play’s themes, aptly named “The Takeaway.”
Keeping in mind the current health and safety landscape, the theatre has introduced a mask-mandatory, reduced capacity performance every Wednesday. Expect an intimate experience, where the magic of theatre unfolds in close quarters with the performers.
