Set in a remote Irish fishing village, ‘The New Electric Ballroom’ tells the story of three sisters whose lives are forever altered by betrayal. As they grapple with their shattered dreams and a reality that falls short of expectations, they find solace in each other’s company. The New York Times has praised the play as Walsh’s “most intoxicating and original piece of writing.”
Gibson shares, “This play sits deeply with me—a tale of regret and longing, told with Walsh’s customary bold, theatrical language and style. It is a cautionary tale that reminds us to move away from regret and live in the present.”
Bramucci, who portrays the younger sister, echoes Gibson’s sentiments. She says, “Walsh is a master storyteller. His unique ability to cut to the core makes the work visceral, haunting, and electrifyingly resonant.”
The cast members share a deep connection to Hedgerow Theatre and each other. Dardaris first performed on the Hedgerow stage as an emerging artist 50 years ago, while Saunders began her journey at the theatre as a teenager. Over the years, they have collaborated on numerous projects, solidifying their bond as artists.
