ROSE VALLEY, PA — Entertainment enthusiasts in the Philadelphia region are in for a treat as Dave Droxler brings his acclaimed autobiographical play, “Robin & Me: My Little Spark of Madness,” to Hedgerow Theatre. Running from October 9-27, this celebrated work offers a heartfelt journey through the life of the DelCo native, intertwined with the spirit of his idol, Robin Williams.
Droxler, a seasoned performer from Delaware County, has made a name for himself on both stage and screen in New York. He now brings this unique piece back to his roots, transforming his personal experiences into a compelling narrative. The play, which captivated Off-Broadway audiences, has garnered several Broadway World honors, including Best New Play and Best Actor in a Play.
Hedgerow Theatre, located at 64 Rose Valley Rd, will host the production as part of a broader tour, which will also include a performance at Point Park University, Droxler’s alma mater, in January. “Robin & Me” first premiered at Abingdon Theatre Company in New York City, under the direction of Chad Austin, who praised the play’s alignment with Abingdon’s mission and expressed excitement over its continued journey.
Audiences can look forward to a series of engaging performances, beginning with preview shows on October 9 and 10. The official opening night is slated for October 11 at 7:30 pm. In addition to the regular schedule, Hedgerow Theatre will offer Pre-Show Happy Hours, including a PRIDE night on October 17, and host performances with Open Captioning and Audio Descriptions to ensure accessibility for all attendees.
Droxler reflects on this homecoming with gratitude and emotion, particularly following the recent passing of his father. “Since last year’s Off-Broadway run of Robin & Me, I hoped I’d get the chance to perform it in my hometown where the majority of the play takes place,” Droxler shared. “It was a perfect alignment of the stars.”
Hedgerow Executive Artistic Director Marcie Bramucci expressed her excitement, noting Droxler’s remarkable talent and the joy he brings to the stage, reminiscent of Robin Williams himself. “I can’t wait to introduce our audiences to Dave’s extraordinary talent and immerse them in the heartfelt and humorous journey that is Robin & Me,” Bramucci stated.
Tickets for this must-see production start at $20 and are available online. With its rich storytelling and emotional depth, “Robin & Me” promises to be a theatrical experience that will resonate with audiences long after the curtain falls.
