WEST CHESTER, PA — Nearly 500 pieces of artwork, spanning mediums such as sculpture, oil painting, colored pencil, and photography, will be featured at the Chester County High School Art Exhibition and PA 6th District Congressional Art Competition. This prominent annual event, celebrating the artistic talent of local high school students, will run from Wednesday, April 9, through Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Chester County Art Association in West Chester, PA.

The exhibition, open to the public, highlights the creativity and skill of students across Chester County, while also serving as a platform for competitive recognition. A free public open house will be hosted on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., offering attendees an opportunity to view the impressive collection and engage with the artists.

Within the broader exhibition, selected artworks will compete in Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan’s Congressional Art Competition. This program, designed for students residing in Pennsylvania’s 6th District—which encompasses Chester County and parts of Berks County—is part of a national initiative by the U.S. House of Representatives. The competition’s grand prize winner will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year, representing the district on a national stage.

“I’m always amazed by the talent we see at this exhibition,” said Kathy Gurnee, special events coordinator for the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU). “These students create powerful, meaningful art that shows both skill and heart. It’s rewarding to watch them grow as artists, and I can’t wait to see what new ideas they bring this year.”
