Connelly Foundation’s Neumann Scholars Program

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Seven students from Chester County are among the 52 academically gifted eighth graders awarded four-year, full-tuition scholarships through the Connelly Foundation’s 2025 Neumann Scholars Program. Announced during a virtual ceremony on Friday, the scholarships collectively total $1.9 million.

The recipients, chosen from 516 students who competed in a standardized test in September, will receive grants covering tuition at any Philadelphia Archdiocesan high school. Each scholarship, valued at about $37,000 over four years, honors Saint John Neumann, a key figure in Catholic education.

Chester County’s scholarship winners include

  • Jack Burrell and Sophia Grumbine from Saints Peter and Paul School;
  • Alexandra Heil and Charlotte Maio from St. Agnes School;
  • Elizabeth Lincoln from Holy Family School;
  • Royce Mathew from St. Elizabeth Parish School; and
  • Tyler Parthemore from St. Norbert School.

“The Connelly Foundation is pleased to honor and recognize the academic excellence of this year’s 52 Neumann Scholars,” said Tom Riley, president of the foundation. “The scholarships open doors to high-quality, values-based education, setting students up for future success.”

Launched in 1995, the Neumann Scholars Program rewards scholastically talented students and has provided over $20 million in scholarships to 1,157 students. Recipients boast a 100% college acceptance rate, with many earning significant college scholarships, National Merit recognition, and high SAT scores.

This year’s Chester County scholars join a legacy of academic achievement and opportunities created through the Connelly Foundation’s enduring commitment to education in the Philadelphia region.
