WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Area School District (WCASD) has recently announced key leadership changes, naming Dr. Stephen Brown as the new Director of Teaching and Learning and Equity, and Dr. Sarah Graham as the Principal of East High School. Both appointments are effective immediately, heralding a new chapter for the district’s administrative team.
Dr. Stephen Brown, previously the Principal of East High School, steps into his new role with a wealth of experience and a passion for advancing educational equity. Over his 20-year tenure at WCASD, Dr. Brown has served in various capacities, starting as a high school teacher, moving on to Assistant Principal at Fugett Middle School, and later serving as Assistant Principal and Principal at East High School. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in roles such as Equity Coordinator and Safe Schools Coordinator, emphasizing inclusivity and safety in education.
Dr. Brown’s academic credentials include a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University, a Master’s in Education from Gratz College, and a Bachelor’s from West Chester University. He is well-regarded for his leadership qualities and dedication to creating a supportive, student-focused environment.
Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Brown said, “For the past 13 years, my car has been on autopilot to the East and Fugett campus, and I’ve loved the drive every day. That said, I am honored and thrilled to continue serving our district’s teachers, students, and families in a different leadership role.”
Dr. Sarah Graham takes the reins as Principal of East High School, bringing significant experience in educational leadership. Having served as Assistant Principal at East High for six years, she has been a pivotal figure in overseeing academic departments and spearheading initiatives like the MTSS Team and Keystone Exam administration. Her prior experience includes a role as Assistant Principal at Penncrest High School, where she directed the Simon Youth Academy and managed summer programs.
Dr. Graham holds an EdD in Educational Leadership and an Administrative Certificate from Neumann University, a Master’s in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor’s in Special Education from Penn State University. Her professional background includes roles as a school counselor and special education teacher, positioning her well to lead East High.
