WEST CHESTER, PA — Alex Chen, a senior at West Chester East High School, has been selected as one of the two Pennsylvania delegates for the prestigious US Senate Youth Program. This achievement showcases Chen’s academic excellence, dedication to public service, and commitment to creating positive change in his community.
Chen’s journey to the US Senate Youth Program was encouraged by East graduate Saanvi Bhatia, who recognized the potential benefits of the program. Chen has expressed a keen interest in understanding how laws impact communities, and this opportunity provides him with an unparalleled platform to interact with leaders and experts in his field of interest.
Chen plans to attend law school and aspires to work in the Department of Justice, aiming for a future where justice is accessible to everyone. “This is an exciting chance to meet those who are actively making a difference, engage with speakers, and understand what a career in public service truly looks like,” says Chen.
Among Chen’s notable accomplishments are serving as East’s Class President, engaging in county government and policy research, and participating in Harlen Moot Court. These achievements demonstrate his ability to advocate for others through legal advocacy.
Principal Stephen Brown of West Chester East High School expressed pride in Chen’s achievements. “Knowing that he will be a force for change in society, be it on a local, state, or federal scale, is something we look forward to. He earnestly cares about people and does what it takes to make change.”
Chen’s peers describe him as both bright and humble, leading by example and making a significant impact on his classmates. His role as a senior officer has helped the entire group function more effectively, and his commitment to making a positive difference is evident in every aspect of his academic and extracurricular pursuits.
West Chester East High School invites the community to join in celebrating Alex Chen’s achievements and his selection as a delegate to the US Senate Youth Program.
