WEST CHESTER, PA — Back to Basics West Chester, a political action committee (PAC) formed to bring balance to the West Chester Area School Board in 2023, held a Meet and Greet Fundraiser on April 27, 2023, and over 100 supporters came out to meet the candidates.
- Bob Rafetto and Nick Spangler (Region 1)
- Amanda Greenberg and Peggy Schmitt (Region 2)
- Alain Oliver (Region 3)
The event was held at County Corvette in West Chester with food provided by Philly Hots!, a local food truck. There were so many unexpected guests that the food truck ran out of several items, and donations vastly exceeded fundraising goals.
Jim Jordan, the owner of County Corvette, welcomed guests to the venue and spoke about the slate of candidates and how they could positively impact the West Chester Area School District board.
Back to Basics West Chester organizers shared the history and mission of the PAC. They further elaborated on the campaign platform to include academic excellence, transparency, parents as partners, fiscal accountability, and safety. Safety was recently added to the platform as a result of feedback that candidates received from voters while door knocking.
Each of the five candidates spoke briefly about their diverse backgrounds, experience, and why they are running for a seat on the board. Several of the candidates brought their families, and there were many children in attendance.
The candidates, organizers, and guests all declared that the event was a resounding success, and everyone is looking forward to future events after the May 16 primary. To learn more about each of the candidates and Back to Basics West Chester, visit the website at www.backtobasicswc.com.
