PHOENIXVILLE, PA — For the first time in over a decade, a full slate of Phoenixville Area School District (PASD) School Board Directors is seeking reelection. Board President Scott Overland, Vice President Susan Turner, and Directors Caitlyn Carminito and Victoria Walker announced their campaign on Friday, highlighting three years of leadership and significant accomplishments.

Elected in 2021, this group of directors has overseen several transformational projects within the district. Among their achievements is guiding PASD through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while setting the stage for long-term growth. Under their leadership, the district has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art elementary school, which is scheduled to open this fall. The new school is central to the board’s goal of meeting the needs of the area’s growing student population.

The board also adopted the inclusive slogan “PASD: You Belong Here,” reflecting its commitment to fostering a welcoming and safe environment for all students. Additionally, they eliminated the occupation tax, ensuring a fairer financial structure for the community, and hired a new superintendent, who is only the second woman to lead the district in its history.

Furthering their focus on transparency, the board implemented new tools and policies to enhance communication, including retaining video recordings of general and committee meetings.

“Serving a community as diverse, caring, and welcoming as PASD over the past three-plus years has been an incredible honor and privilege,” said Scott Overland. “I am so proud of the work we have done to strengthen our district and prepare the students of Phoenixville for life-long success and am excited for the opportunity to continue working with this dedicated group of school board directors.”

Susan Turner shared similar sentiments, adding, “I’m very proud of all that PASD has accomplished since I joined the board in 2020, and look forward to continuing work with this dedicated team.”

Turner and Walker represent Schuylkill Township, Overland resides in East Pikeland Township, and Carminito represents Phoenixville Borough — together reflecting the geographic diversity of the district. Their reelection campaign focuses on building upon their track record of progress and on continuing their collaborative approach to district leadership.

Their bid for reelection signals stability and continuity for PASD, showcasing their collective commitment to advancing educational excellence and fostering community growth. If successful, the team aims to continue shaping an inclusive and thriving educational environment for families across the district.
