ATGLEN, PA — In a startling revelation, Anthony Falgiatore, a member of the Octorara Area School District Board, has spoken out on Facebook about what he describes as a fractured relationship with his fellow board members. According to Falgiatore, this division began over two years ago when he advocated for parents opposing mask mandates in schools.

Falgiatore claims that his attempts at communication are often met with silence or mockery. He alleges that many of his emails, particularly those questioning the board’s decisions, go unanswered. This lack of response, he says, leads him to believe that the proof to validate their stances on various issues does not exist.

The tension escalated when Falgiatore supported an advocate hired by parents to address the board. Falgiatore alleges that this advocate’s constitutional rights were violated by eight board members, leading him to publicly defend the advocate. In return, he says, he was vilified by his colleagues through false narratives.

Falgiatore also accuses the board of petty behavior, citing an instance where a colleague refused to endorse another candidate because they had liked one of Falgiatore’s social media posts.

More disturbingly, Falgiatore claims to have received letters of extortion and defamation, and even alleges attempts to shut down his wife’s business. These actions, he says, are being investigated by law enforcement agencies.

Despite these allegations, Falgiatore remains committed to his role, expressing concern over the use of public funds for private legal defenses and advocating for transparency in board operations. His revelations paint a troubling picture of division and dysfunction within the Octorara Area School District Board, raising questions about its ability to effectively serve the community it represents. It also underscores the importance of transparency, communication, and community representation in the decision-making process.

As we navigate these challenging times, the role of school board members becomes even more critical. They are not just decision-makers but also advocates for the people they represent. The need for board members who will honor their oath of office, speak for the people, and include them in the decision-making process is paramount.

Anthony Falgiatore, along with Karen Williamson and Joseph Rzonca for Region 1, Joelyn Metzler for Region 2, and Jacob Lusby Jr for Region 3, promise to be such voices. They have pledged to uphold their responsibilities, promote transparency, and ensure that the community’s voice is not just heard but also taken into account.

In Falgiatore’s words: “In closing, if you want board members that truly will honor their oath of office and will actually be a voice for the people and not a voice to the people then please consider voting for us. If you are good with how things appear to be in the district and leaving you out of the decisions then vote for our opponents.”

His statement underscores the choice facing voters – a choice between staying the course or opting for change and greater community involvement. It’s a decision that will shape the future of the Octorara Area School District and the educational landscape of Chester County.
