MALVERN, PA — The Great Valley School District (GVSD) has announced three major leadership appointments, further solidifying its mission toward academic excellence and community engagement. Approved during the January 21 Board of School Directors meeting, the appointments bring experienced professionals into pivotal roles.
Theresa Marsden has been named Director of Communications for the district. With a strong background in strategic communication and engagement, Marsden joins GVSD following roles at the Avon Grove School District and the Chester County Intermediate Unit. Her past accomplishments include fostering community connections and creating initiatives designed to support student success, positioning her to strengthen GVSD’s outreach to families, staff, and broader community stakeholders.
Kaitlyn Edwards will take on the role of Supervisor of Human Resources. Edwards brings extensive experience in recruitment, employee relations, and HR strategy, previously serving at the Hempfield and Coatesville Area School Districts. Her collaborative approach and dedication to building supportive workplace cultures will drive forward the district’s HR initiatives, enhancing its commitment to fostering an inclusive and effective work environment.
Dr. Sharon Cohen has been officially appointed as principal of Great Valley Middle School. Having served as interim principal since June 2024, Dr. Cohen offers over 24 years of experience in education, including prior roles as an assistant principal, instructional coach, and classroom teacher. Known for her dedication to middle school education, her leadership is set to continue fostering a supportive and enriching environment at GVMS.
