DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A group of young innovators from Downingtown has claimed first place at the 2025 Pennsylvania State First LEGO League (FLL) Championship, securing their spot to represent the state at the upcoming FLL World Championship in Houston, Texas, from April 17–20.
The team, known as the Robo Rangers, consists of five elementary and middle school students from the Downingtown Area School District (DASD): Vani Wadhwa, Vikhyat Maram, Ayan Patel, Nidhi Ananthanarayana, and Sarani Patibandla. Coached by local parents, the home-based team impressed judges with their technical expertise and innovative problem-solving skills.
Competing against some of the top teams in Pennsylvania, the Robo Rangers excelled in robot design and programming. Their research project tackled a real-world issue, proposing an underwater patroller named VVANS to improve scuba diver safety.
“These students have put in countless hours designing, testing, and coding — and they’ve done it all with incredible creativity and teamwork,” said coach Kumar Ananth. “Representing Pennsylvania at the World Championship is a huge honor, and we’re so proud of how far they’ve come.”
At the World Championship in Houston, the Robo Rangers will compete against leading young robotics teams from around the globe, showcasing their skills on an international stage.
