WEST GROVE, PA — The Avon Grove School District (AGSD) has officially started looking for its next Superintendent as Dr. M. Christopher Marchese prepares to step down on January 3, 2025. After more than eleven years with the district, Dr. Marchese will assume the role of Executive Director of the Lincoln Intermediate Unit.
Reflecting on his tenure, Dr. Marchese said, “It has been the greatest privilege of my professional career to serve this community. Our collective achievements—from innovative educational programs to state-of-the-art facilities—have positioned our students for extraordinary futures. While my chapter is closing, I have absolute confidence in the district’s continued growth and the incredible potential of our students, educators, and staff.”
The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) will lead the search, approved by the AGSD Board of School Directors at its October meeting. The CCIU’s no-cost service for Chester County schools will guide the district in finding a leader who can continue to build on its success while advancing its commitment to educational excellence.
To ensure the process includes community input, the CCIU will host a series of Zoom forums in January 2025. These sessions will gather feedback from parents, staff, students, and the broader community on the qualities they hope to see in the new Superintendent.
