PAOLI, PA — State Representative Melissa Shusterman has announced the allocation of $934,910 in grants to schools within the 157th Legislative District. The funding will support efforts to improve school security and address concerns around violence and safety.
The grants, administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee, were awarded to a range of educational institutions across the district. The recipients and their grant amounts are as follows:
- Tredyffrin-Easttown School District – $224,828
- Great Valley School District – $188,649
- Phoenixville Area School District – $179,183
- Chester County IU 24 – $70,000
- Royer-Greaves School for the Blind – $70,000
- Chester County Technical College High School – $70,000
- The Phelps School – $48,000
- Delaware Valley Friends School – $46,750
- Villa Maria Academy High School – $37,500
Sharing her thoughts on the grants, Rep. Shusterman stated, “Our students and teachers perform at their best when they feel safe in their environment. We are committed to protecting our students and supporting their mental health. This funding will provide our schools with the resources necessary for our students to learn effectively and for our teachers to teach.”
The funding is part of a broader $120 million school safety grants initiative included in Pennsylvania’s bipartisan 2024-25 state budget. Shusterman, now serving her fourth term, highlighted her dedication to securing future resources and solutions for the district.
