PHILADELPHIA, PA — To highlight the integration of faith with comprehensive academic offerings, the Office of Catholic Education (OCE) of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia has announced its plans to host the 2024 STREAM Expo. This year marks a significant expansion of the initiative, with Catholic colleges and universities participating for the first time alongside preschools, parish and regional elementary schools, and secondary schools within the five-county region.

STREAM—an acronym for Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math—represents the Archdiocese’s commitment to an educational model that not only fosters academic excellence but also imbues students with faith-based values. The inclusion of religion and arts alongside traditional STEM subjects underscores the holistic approach to education championed by the Archdiocese, aiming to cultivate well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of the real world.

Scheduled to take place across three days from April 23 to April 25, 2024, at various high schools within the Archdiocese, the STREAM Expo seeks to achieve several key objectives. These include emphasizing the importance of a curriculum grounded in Catholic principles across all STREAM content areas, demonstrating the continuity of learning from preschool through higher education within the Archdiocesan system, and showcasing to the community the value placed on integrating faith throughout the educational journey.

By extending the invitation to Catholic higher education institutions, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia signals a desire to illustrate the seamless transition and alignment of values from early schooling through to tertiary education. This move also presents an opportunity for colleges and universities to showcase their programs and affirm their role in preparing students for future careers while maintaining a foundation in faith.

The STREAM Expo is set to feature the strong academic and fine arts programs available in the Archdiocesan schools, providing a platform for students to present projects and for schools to highlight their innovative approaches to education. This initiative not only serves as a testament to the quality of Catholic education in the Philadelphia area but also as a call to action for school families, benefactors, and supporters to continue investing in the future of these institutions.
