IMMACULATA, PA — The Immaculata University Music Department has announced the formation of the Immaculata Clarinet Choir, a new ensemble designed to bring together local clarinetists to celebrate the art of music. The initiative will debut with a free concert on Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. in Alumnae Hall Theater, featuring a joint performance with world-renowned clarinetist Ricardo Morales.
Morales, known as the principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, will also lead a masterclass prior to the concert. Scheduled for Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the masterclass is open to Immaculata music students, alumni, and local musicians. Registration is required by April 18, with a fee of $25 for students and $50 for adults.
“This new ensemble provides local clarinetists with the opportunity to come together, share their talents, and experience the rich sound of a full clarinet ensemble,” said Joseph Gehring, chair of Immaculata’s Music Department. “I am extremely proud to launch this new ensemble with the world-renowned clarinetist Ricardo Morales.”
Gehring, who is conducting the clarinet choir for this inaugural performance, serves as the chair of the Music Department and the music director of both the Immaculata Symphony and Chesco Pops Orchestra. With extensive experience directing honor and festival bands, he brings a wealth of knowledge to this new initiative.
Designed to foster collaboration and showcase musical excellence, the Immaculata Clarinet Choir’s kickoff concert promises to be a special event for music enthusiasts and the local community.
