MEDIA, PA — Delaware County Community College (DCCC) is expanding its Board of Trustees from 13 to 15 members. The college is actively seeking two candidates to fill these newly created positions for six-year terms, concluding on June 30, 2030.
Potential candidates must reside within one of the college’s sponsoring districts, which include various communities such as Haverford, Radnor, and Upper Darby, among others. This expansion reflects DCCC’s commitment to cultivating a board with a deep understanding of and engagement with the local community’s educational and employment needs. Current sitting school board members, officers, or solicitors from the sponsoring districts are not eligible for consideration.
Candidates should possess enthusiasm for the mission of community colleges and a willingness to dedicate time to board meetings, committee work, and special events. The ideal trustee will bring wise judgment to complex issues, demonstrating a strong capacity for active listening and community representation.
The Board of Trustees plays a crucial role in ensuring that DCCC continues to offer accessible and comprehensive educational programs. They are responsible for appointing the college president, as well as approving overarching policies and fee structures. With five campuses in Delaware and Chester Counties, DCCC provides flexible learning opportunities that include in-person, online, and hybrid options.
This board expansion marks a significant opportunity for DCCC to further strengthen its leadership, aligning with the college’s mission to meet the dynamic needs of its community. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact the President’s Office at President@dccc.edu or call 610-359-5288 before the October 11, 2024 deadline to express their interest in these vital volunteer roles.
