PHOENIXVILLE, PADelaware County Community College (DCCC) has announced the expansion of its acclaimed Culinary Arts program to Phoenixville, providing a new opportunity for students to engage in hands-on culinary education starting January 2025. The program will be hosted at the Phoenixville Area Senior Center, strategically located in the vibrant heart of Phoenixville’s burgeoning restaurant scene.

Registration is now open for aspiring culinary professionals eager to benefit from the program’s practical learning modules, which will be conducted in a commercial kitchen setting under the guidance of experienced chef instructors. This move is seen as a significant step in making high-quality culinary education more accessible to the residents of Chester County.

DCCC President Dr. Marta Yera Cronin expressed enthusiasm about the new location, stating, “We are thrilled to be offering another location to serve Chester County students. It represents our commitment to providing greater accessibility to education to residents of both Delaware and Chester Counties.” This expansion aligns with the college’s broader mission to increase educational access, as it already operates multiple locations across Chester and Delaware counties.

The curriculum at the Phoenixville location will allow students to pursue an associate degree, certificate, or a non-credit certificate in Culinary Arts. The courses cover a wide range of topics including baking, international cuisine, menu planning, and food service purchasing. This comprehensive approach is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to excel in the culinary industry. DCCC’s Culinary Arts faculty bring a wealth of real-world experience, having achieved recognition in local culinary competitions such as the Chester County Community Foundation’s “Sweet Charity” events in 2023 and 2024.

Classes will be offered on flexible schedules, with sessions available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. or from 6 to 10 p.m., allowing students to choose a timing that best fits their personal commitments. The deadline for registration is January 10, 2025, ensuring ample time for prospective students to enroll and prepare for the upcoming semester.

The Phoenixville campus offers convenient on-site parking and is easily accessible via public transportation, making it an ideal location for students from various parts of the region. This expansion not only highlights DCCC’s dedication to educational excellence but also strengthens its role in supporting the local community and economy.
