Delaware County Community College Stages Timeless ‘Romeo and Juliet’ Outdoors

MEDIA, PA — On a hot summer night in Verona, teenagers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet meet and fall instantly in love. Their romance sparks amid an age-old vendetta between their powerful families. Delaware County Community College presents this timeless tale in its spring student theatre production of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” from June 5 through 8 at 8 p.m. at the Marple Campus, 901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA.

Audiences can enjoy this special outdoor theatre experience on the College’s sprawling lawn. The cast features talented students from both Delaware and Chester Counties: Melissa Morris, Richie Richardson, Javier Villagomez, Kevin Lara, DJ Truxler, Umani Padmore, Ikesseh Zarwee, Sean Summerfield, Gillian Keener, Peggy Oleynick, Anthony Abo-Harb, Brenna Lill, Sam Briggs, Adrian Bruce, Oniha Warren, David Scanlan, Josh Lindy, and Patrick Gregson.

Directed by Stephen Patrick Smith, associate professor of Drama, this production promises a captivating performance. Assistant director Sarah Stryker supports the effort. Tickets are available for $15 general admission and $10 for students with a valid school ID. Performances will take place weather permitting. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets, chairs, and snacks. Accessible parking is available.

Delaware County Community College’s Drama Department aims to provide a comprehensive theatre education while engaging the community with vibrant, thought-provoking productions. The College offers both a Theatre Arts certificate program and an Associate in Arts/Communication Arts with a Theatre Option.
