MEDIA, PA — In a strategic move to support adult learners re-entering higher education, Delaware County Community College (DCCC) has announced a partnership with ReUp Education. This collaboration aims to address the unique challenges faced by individuals who have previously acquired college credits but have yet to complete their degrees.
According to a 2023 report by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, over 40 million American adults have college credits without a degree or credential. Recognizing the potential of these learners, DCCC is teaming up with ReUp, a prominent tech-enabled provider that specializes in empowering adult learners through innovative support systems.
Since its inception in 2015, ReUp Education has been instrumental in helping educational institutions engage and retain adult learners by utilizing patented technology alongside personalized coaching services. This partnership will enable DCCC to leverage ReUp’s expertise to reach out to learners who have paused their educational pursuits. ReUp’s approach will focus on providing holistic support that takes into account the various factors influencing a learner’s decision to return to college and their subsequent educational journey.
By serving as an expert advisor on adult learning, ReUp will offer DCCC institution-specific insights and strategic recommendations. These will be grounded in industry trends, extensive data on adult learners, and direct feedback from the learners themselves. This collaboration is poised to facilitate a seamless re-enrollment process for returning students by offering comprehensive support systems that assist them in becoming active students and successfully completing their degrees.
In addition to ReUp’s support, returning students will have access to DCCC’s academic advisors, who will provide guidance on planning next steps, addressing questions, and navigating the academic landscape. This dual support system is designed to ensure that returning students have the necessary resources to thrive in their academic endeavors.
Gina Macklin, Vice President of Recruitment and Enrollment Management at DCCC, emphasized the importance of this initiative by stating, “Equity is not equality; it is removing barriers to make opportunities accessible for all, and our partnership with ReUp Education does just that. Returning students will receive personalized assistance and awareness of the available resources and services needed to mitigate the inequities that often derail academic success.”
This partnership marks a significant step forward in DCCC’s efforts to foster an inclusive and supportive educational environment for adult learners, ultimately contributing to their academic success and professional growth.
