MEDIA, PA — The Delaware County Community College (DCCC) Educational Foundation has secured a one-year grant of $99,925 from the Chappell Culpeper Family Foundation, aimed at bolstering access to healthcare education. These funds will provide scholarships specifically for students enrolled in DCCC’s non-credit medical programs, addressing workforce needs in high-demand healthcare roles.
The grant is set to support up to 35 students pursuing careers as Pharmacy Technicians, Multi-Skilled Medical Technicians, and Sterile Processing Technicians. By reducing financial barriers, the scholarships offer students a clear pathway toward certification and employment in healthcare professions known for offering sustainable wages.
“This grant will help the College enhance equity in healthcare education, ensuring students gain critical skills, hands-on training and professional credentials needed for job placement within high-demand occupations that offer life-sustaining wages,” said Laura Chisholm, Ed.D., Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Educational Foundation at DCCC.
Beyond scholarships, the funding will support in-classroom English Language Learner (ELL) tutoring for all students enrolled in DCCC’s non-credit healthcare programs. A total of 24 hours of weekly tutoring will help students overcome language challenges and thrive academically in these rigorous training environments.
The Delaware County Community College Educational Foundation, a non-profit entity, remains committed to providing financial resources for students, programs, and facilities at the College.
With this grant, DCCC is advancing its mission to create pathways to high-demand healthcare careers while fostering educational access for all. The College looks forward to welcoming more students into these programs and helping them achieve their career aspirations in this critical field.
