EXTON, PA — The 2025 “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” video contest concluded with middle school students from Chester and Delaware counties receiving top awards for their creative takes on local manufacturing careers. Hosted by the Chester County Economic Development Council’s Manufacturing Alliance of Chester and Delaware Counties (MACC/DC), the event celebrated its 10th anniversary with more than 250 attendees at Penn State Great Valley Conference Center, Malvern.
The contest, designed to spark interest in manufacturing careers among younger generations, featured two-minute video profiles produced by teams from eight middle schools paired with ten area manufacturers. These videos highlighted the companies’ products, manufacturing processes, and the thrill of working in technology-driven environments. Over 20,000 public votes across three days combined with a judges’ evaluation determined the winners.
Award Winners Included:
- Outstanding Overall Video: Delaware County Christian School
- Viewer’s Choice Award: Octorara Junior High School
Several schools received recognition for specific achievements, such as Penn’s Grove Middle School for Outstanding Editing and Videography, and Springton Lake Middle School for Outstanding Creativity. The initiative’s organizers emphasized the vital collaboration between education and local manufacturers.
“This event is successful year after year because of the local manufacturing companies who work with us to advance the next generation of our region’s manufacturing workforce,” said Jim Lauckner of the MACC/DC.
The contest was supported by sponsors including the County of Chester Department of Workforce Development, CCRES, and JGM Fabricators & Constructors.
