WEST GROVE, PA — The Chester County Technical College High School (TCHS) Pennock’s Bridge campus is transforming the futures of students like Dominick Reyes by blending hands-on training with career-focused education, preparing them for success in high-demand industries.
Dominick Reyes, a standout student in the Auto Collision program, has turned a lifelong passion for cars into a promising career path. “I’ve always been fascinated with cars, especially working with my grandfather,” Reyes says, reflecting on his early exposure to automotive work. Inspired by his family’s automotive background, including a cousin and brother who also attended TCHS, Dominick is following in their footsteps toward a future in the field.
The Auto Collision program offers students essential skills for repairing vehicles damaged in accidents, combined with industry certifications. Dominick has already completed his Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety certification and is on track to earn his Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) certification. These qualifications are key to advancing in the highly specialized profession of auto body repair.
Complementing his classroom learning, Dominick gains valuable practical experience through a co-op position at 3D Collision Center. “3D has been, honestly, one of the best work choices I ever could have made,” he says. His work involves vehicle tear-downs, writing repair estimates, and rebuilds, which prepare him for challenges he will face in the professional world.
Dominick is also keenly aware of the increasing demand for skilled auto body technicians. “A lot of people who have knowledge are starting to retire, and they’re always needing new people,” he explains. “I figured why not become one of the newer, next generation of auto body technicians?”
Looking ahead, Dominick plans to deepen his expertise in the field, with aspirations to work alongside seasoned professionals and potentially continue his education at the Automotive Training Center. His ultimate goal is to establish himself as a leader in the auto body industry within the next five years.
Dominick’s story spotlights the critical role TCHS plays in shaping students’ futures. Through programs like Auto Collision, the school equips students with the tools, certifications, and experience needed to excel in industries that are both innovative and vital to the economy.
