Your Voice Matters: Join PennDOT’s Live Meeting on Critical Birchrun Road Bridge Upgrade

PennDOT

WEST VINCENT TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will hold a live virtual meeting on Wednesday, April 9, to discuss the planned replacement of the bridge carrying Birchrun Road over Birch Run in West Vincent, Chester County.

The bridge, constructed in 1923, is a two-span structure measuring 38 feet in length and 19 feet in width. Currently listed in poor condition, it services an average of 435 vehicles daily. The proposed project aims to remove the aging bridge, including its abutments, pier, and wing walls, and replace it with a wider, single-span, prestressed plank beam bridge.

The virtual meeting, part of PennDOT’s public outreach effort, will begin at 7:00 PM via Microsoft Teams. A presentation by the department’s design team will outline project specifics before opening the floor for questions using the meeting platform’s Q&A feature.

PennDOT encourages public participation to ensure feedback is incorporated into the project. Those interested in attending will need internet access and a computer or mobile device. Individuals with special needs requiring accommodations are asked to contact PennDOT Design Project Manager Connor Shelly in advance.
