WEST CHESTER, PA — ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester is pleased to announce the winner of its 8th Annual Chef’s Best competition held Thursday, March 28, 2019, at West Chester University Alumni & Foundation Center. Ram’s Head Bar & Grill received the most votes from attendees who raised more than $23,000 to enable ACT in Faith to support the un- and underemployed in the West Chester community.
About 185 people sampled fare from Ram’s Head, Chadds Ford Tavern, Goose Creek Grill and 2018 winner Saloon 151, then chose their favorite dish. Ram’s Head served Asian-Glazed Pork Tacos with shredded carrots, jalapenos and cilantro lime drizzle to garner the most votes. Chef’s Best also offered silent auction items as well as amazing desserts donated by Gemelli, Master Baker and Goose Creek Grill.
“If the comments our guests made as they left are any indication, this was the best ‘Chef’s Best’ yet. Our thanks to everyone who made it possible – from the chefs to the volunteers, from the sponsors to those who attended,” said ACT in Faith Board President Denise Antonelli, who is also a partner at the law firm Gawthrop Greenwood, PC. “Congratulations to Ram’s Head, and all the competitors, for creating spectacular dishes that had all the guests raving.”
All proceeds support ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester, an interfaith organization that seeks to empower un- and under-employed West Chester residents to stabilize their households and build toward sustainability. Services include eviction and utility shut-off prevention, employment support services and a Community Cupboard, which provides personal care and household items as well as dry food goods and homemade frozen meals.
Chef’s Best lead sponsors include Gawthrop Greenwood, PC, Back Office Thinking, Better Than Bacon Comedy Improv, and Sun East Federal Credit Union & Charitable Foundation. Generous support is also provided by Brandywine Catering and other local businesses/organizations.
