WEST CHESTER, PA — The First West Chester Fire Company, Chester County’s oldest fire company and one of the longest-serving volunteer fire companies nationwide, is commemorating its 225th anniversary. To mark this historic milestone, the company is hosting a community block party on Wednesday, September 4th, from 5 pm to 9 pm. The festivities will take place on Church Street between Gay Street and Market Street, the site of their original firehouse, now Slow Hand Restaurant.

The celebration will feature live music, a bounce house, clowns, balloon art, and an array of fire trucks. A special highlight is the West Chester Community Celebrity Dunk Tank, with local figures like Dana DiDomenico and Councilman Bernie Flynn participating. “All funds raised will help support the fire company,” stated 225th Anniversary Chairman Steve Pelna, emphasizing the community’s role in the event.

President Andy Rongaus reflected on the company’s legacy, stating, “First West Chester Fire Company has a long and storied history of serving the West Chester community. We have a lot of pride in what our volunteers do on a daily basis and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary than with the community that we love.”

The event is supported by sponsors such as Lamb McErlane PC, Citizens Bank, Benchmark Federal Credit Union, and others, highlighting the community’s commitment to honoring the fire company’s enduring service.
