EXTON, PAUwchlan Township has begun implementing updates to its waste collection services following its new contract with Whitetail Disposal LLC, which took effect on January 1, 2025. The changes involve adjustments to collection schedules, bin usage, and procedures for bulk item disposal and reporting service issues.

Beginning in 2025, household trash and recycling will be picked up on the same day, which has been set for Tuesdays. The first collection under the new schedule will occur on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Yard waste will be collected on select Thursdays throughout the year, with details to be provided in a new collection calendar, which will be issued soon. Residents are reminded that yard waste must now be placed in paper bags, as bins will no longer be accepted.

To streamline operations, trash and recycling will now be collected using trucks equipped with automated arms. Each household will receive two 96-gallon bins, one for trash (with a black lid) and one for recycling (with a blue lid), which are being delivered in December. Residents requiring smaller bins will be able to request them starting February 1, 2025, by contacting Whitetail Disposal. New bins should not be used until the first scheduled collection on January 7, as the outgoing hauler, Eagle Disposal, will not accept waste placed in the new containers.

For bulk trash, residents can dispose of one item per month, with pickups scheduled for the last Tuesday of the month. Scheduling is required in advance by emailing uwchlan@whitetaildisposal.com or calling (610) 936-9967 by noon on the preceding Monday. Excess trash, which doesn’t fit in the supplied bin, will require $5 stickers, available for purchase at the Township Administration Building.

Missed collections or service issues must be reported directly to Whitetail Disposal. Additionally, residents with disabilities or other limitations can request reasonable accommodations for curbside collection.

Uwchlan Township officials are working with Whitetail Disposal to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible and will provide further updates in the weeks ahead.
