PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A bold step towards a greener future has solidified Phoenixville’s position as a leader in sustainability. The Borough of Phoenixville announced the completion of solar panel installation on the roof of Borough Hall, marking another milestone in its ambitious push to transition to 100% clean renewable energy by 2035.

The new 27.26kWDC solar panel array, complete with advanced inverters, a ballasted racking system, and web-based monitoring, underscores the community’s long-term commitment to cutting its carbon footprint while saving on energy costs. Borough Council President Jonathan Ewald called the project a significant accomplishment, stating, “This is a proud step forward in Phoenixville’s commitment to sustainability. By embracing clean energy solutions, we’re ensuring a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come.”

This isn’t Phoenixville’s first venture into solar energy. The Public Works building on 2nd Avenue laid the groundwork back in 2018. Councilwoman Dana Dugan, who championed solar readiness in 2012, celebrated the initiative’s success, emphasizing both its environmental impact and financial benefits. “The ongoing fiscal gains for the Borough are the realization of an over decade-long dream,” she said. “I am thrilled to see this plan finally come to fruition!”

Councilman Brian Weiss, chair of the Borough’s Infrastructure, Transportation Technology, and Sustainability Committee, highlighted Phoenixville’s leadership in carbon neutrality efforts, remarking, “This community continues to push boundaries and inspire others to take bold action. Together, we’re ensuring a brighter, more sustainable future.”

As solar energy becomes woven into the fabric of Phoenixville’s infrastructure, the Borough’s leadership is sending a clear message to other municipalities—commitment to innovative, clean energy solutions isn’t just a vision; it’s a responsibility.
